lights go down, and the night is calling to me

A week ago, I woke up early so I could do a bit sightseeing at a place called Gamla Stan in Stockholm. It's known for being one of the largest and best preserved medieval city centers in Europe. I suppose it's in it name, isn't it? Gamla Stan translates directly to Old Town, and it's where Stockholm was founded in 1252. Because it was an early Monday morning, most of the people out and about were the residents of Stockholm, travelling to work and whatnot. And it was nice, because it gave me a proper picture of what Stockholm is like without all the tourists. I was walking around with music in my ears, and just absorbing everything. It was a shorter walk than I had imagined, because I had suddenly walked down to Skreppsbron and Slussen. I'm guessing it would be a lot more nosy if I had walked there later, because then the stores would be open, and the tourists would be milling about. So I'm glad I took the trip early, because it let me properly have a look at the architecture. I fell in love with all the small alleys of course. Today is a whole week from then, and it seems so far away already. I've got work today, and I can't say I'm really looking forward to not lounging in the sofa. But hey, it's not a completely full day, and I've got the next few days off, so I can spend it with my siblings. There was nothing on telly this morning when we were having breakfast, so I just ended up on the Scooby-Doo movie, and to my surprise, my siblings were actually watching it. (Hashtag never grow up). Tomorrow I'm supposed to be driving with my dad, which sigh. I agreed to it, only because my parents are leaving on Wednesday, so it'll be my last opportunity to drive with my dad for weeks. I think the days are moving far too quickly, though it also feels like I've had holidays for ages. I keep looking at my schedule, thinking it'll be far away before school starts up again, but it's not really. Oh, and as we were watching footie yesterday, my sister pointed out to me that the previous World Cup was when we were in China. And it's funny how much has changed since then. I remember walking through stores, and almost everyone would be playing Waving Flag. It's so good, that song. Anyway, I've actually got to go get ready now. Have a great Monday x.

right now everything is new to me

Hiya! I have a love-relationship with cars that has automatic transmission, and a hate-relationship with cars that has manual transmission. Ugh, I've not got high hopes. I drove to Sugar's town today (she doesn't own it, but it's where she lives), and it was so stressful. I got there half an hour early, so I went to browse through the H&M at the mall whilst waiting. And I actually tried on a proper shirt, and a really lovely (faux) leather skirt. It was sadly not my size, and therefore I had to part ways with it. I took a picture of it before I went, because I have a feeling I probably won't find it again, and I'll be having daydreams about finding a skirt like it. I probably have to pop by the mall tomorrow, so I'm going to see if I can find it somewhere. Anyway, I met up with Sugar and Marble, and we walked towards our desired destination, where we shortly decided to light our BBQ. I had luckily remembered to bring matches, because I still have a mental list of things to bring with to BBQ's after I had one with my belieber friend the other day. However, it was very windy today. I think we had about ten working matches, ten chances to alight our BBQ. And we managed to blow away (hah, pun. get it? cause it was so windy) almost all off our chances. In the end Sugar gave up, and went to call her mum to come pick us up so we could just do the BBQ in her garden. At that time Marble and I were crouched by the BBQ, waiting for the wind to stop. I had one match left. One chance to alight the BBQ so we could finally have some food. Did it alight? N...yes!!! As you can see, this is a very important story for me to tell, because my sense of achievement was on top. If I were to analyse myself, I would say that this particular achievement would probably not be very important normally. However, due to my lack of a sense of achievement when I was driving earlier that day, I had been feeling quite incompetent. So when I finally managed to be a competent person and alight our BBQ, I felt a huge surge of achievement. Story of my life. If it wasn't so very windy and therefore cold, I would probably try to wade in the water. Instead we ended up going to Sugar's house to do some research and watch a bit of telly. Time went very quickly, and then we went to the mall to get some ice cream, because that's the only thing I seem to eat these days. And whoop, Marble and I went to take the train home, and it was suddenly 8:00 pm. I think I said to Marble: "oh wow, it's actually quite late, innit?". Right now I'm listening to One Direction and thinking about starting to pack my bag. When I got home my mum actually said: "why are you home? I thought you had gone". Apparently my younger sister had told my mum that I had gone already. The mentioned sister was quite surprised to see me open her door and ask her about it, said she thought I had gone this morning and that my suitcase was gone from my room. I pointed out that it's still in my bedroom, and she shrugged "I've actually been inside your bedroom to see though". "Really? Remember when dad told you to open my window when I went this morning? Well, my suitcase is standing right by my window," I said. "Oh, right, I didn't wear my glasses". Ugh, I'm still looking at the picture of the leather skirt. It's so nice looking (my precious). Anyway, have a very good night!

right now I wish you were here with me

My mum has green fingers. From where, I don't know. Maybe she learnt how to deal with plants when she was younger and harvested sugar canes for a living. Or maybe it was when she was a stay at home mum and had some time over for herself to do whatever she wanted to do. Nevertheless, she has green fingers, and each spring our garden turns into a little oasis of colours. In that sense I am not my mothers daughter-- I don't know what kind of flower needs more water than the others, and I don't know the signs of them wilting, and I don't know what's best soil to plant them in. Today I've gone through the house and winced each time I pour water into another plant, guessing if it needs more than the one I watered in prior of this one. I've also cleaned my bedroom, cleaned the tables in the living room, and dusted. It does feel a bit like I am one of those housewives. Except this is not my house, nor am I a wife. I am wearing stripes on stripes, blue on green. Beneath is my favourite bikini I wore when I was outside trying to enjoy the sun. I've come to realisation that I cannot hide in my bed when the weather is as nice as it's been for the past week. So I spent some time outside reading, before I was too bored. I've applied nail varnish, which has been a pain in the arse because I hate opaque and slow drying varnishes, which is what I've dealt with today. I also spent my morning going through my Tumblr dashboard, because once a tour starts, the updates are never ending. So I watched a few videos from the first concert, and I grinned unconsciously until I felt the ache in my cheeks. And I nearly started crying a few times because Zayn's riffs are amazing. And sometimes I catch myself in holding my breath when I watch videos of them, and I don't know why I do it. I actually spent last night watching the This Is Us DVD, sort of like a preparation and a reminder of what their tours are like. I am glad that they don't have as many dates this time around, and that they don't necessarily have a gig each day, or multiple times a day like they did last tour. Hopefully they'll get to explore the world this time, not just travelling from place to place. I really really have to do school work today. I simply cannot procrastinate any more. I hope you've had a great day.

we won't be going home for so long

I was sitting on a bench inside the bus shelter, tying my hair up into a high ponytail whilst waiting for the bus, when the man beside me said: "it's cold, isn't it?". I wasn't too surprised. Sometimes older people will say something about the weather conversationally, and it's nice. But after the acknowledging hum or "yes" from my part, the conversation is usually done. Today, however, it continued. And it felt a bit like sitting down beside Forrest Gump. It was actually uncanny how similar it was, a random man starting to chat to me about all of these things, and he was wearing sneakers, and there were just something about him that screamed "Forrest Gump" to me. We stopped talking once we got on the bus, but he still smiled and said goodbye when we'd arrived at his stop. I had a really great day at "praksis" today, so this case just made my day even better. Today has been a busy day, and I've had lots of errands. And that's where my happiness has gone a bit down. Had a bit of a fail at the mall, and it's quite annoying seeing as I braced the snow that's been falling all day, every day. I'm not so very happy about the fall in temperature next week. Don't quite enjoy freezing that much. Oh well, here's the winter I was waiting for. Except it's just really late. Sugar sent me a video, and I nearly fell off the chair, laughing. It was hilarious and good for my soul. I actually went to bed at 10:00 pm yesterday, and I had yet another night of blissful sleep. And I was so happy when I woke up, feeling well rested. My weekend starts today, so I'm going to stay up for a bit. Mostly because I still have quite a few things to do. Otherwise I'd might have gone to bed, actually. Just because. Who doesn't like sleeping? Or actually, we're supposed to read a fictional book for "praksis", so I would love to read the book I've chosen. Because I love reading too. I had a really disappointing realisation some hours ago-- it's not Saturday tomorrow, which means I can't eat the chocolate bar I bought at the grocery store today. How very disappointing. I'm also craving the cinnabons Oyster made the other weekend, because I was looking through pictures on my phone, and of course I had loads of pictures of them. Drool. Alright, have a good night y'all.

right now, I wish you were here with me

I hate it when One Direction decide to be adorable. Makes it harder to try not to like them. (Like it's ever going to work. Was jamming out to their CD this morning when I ate my breakfast). Goodness, they did something genius with one of their songs too; in Better Than Words, they've actually taken various song titles from other musicians and made it into a song. I did find it a bit weird hearing Niall singing "hips don't lie" (his verse is probably my favourite in this song). But now it's all very logical, and rather amusing. Anyway, I've had a great night sleep, and I feel so much more alive that I have been feeling for the past two days. I went to bed at 2:00 am yesterday (was really emotional and started crying a bit whilst listening to Right Now by One Direction and because I was looking at pictures and stuff. Yesterday was a big day for crying), but woke up at 11:00 am. That's bloody nine hours, meaning loads. Now I just need to write my two papers. I was nearly done with the first one yesterday, but I was soooo tired, and I figured it would be better to just finish it today. And now I'm here, looking at the clouds outside the window. It's actually really pretty. Erm, also, Nick Grimshaw, the radio person I adore-- he's appearing in all of these soap operas to "make his mum proud", and it's the most hilarious thing I've seen in awhile. My hair is sort of red. Er, I think I'm still a bit tired, because I'm being very unintelligible in this blogpost. Anyway, I'm going to hopefully finish writing everything today, so I can hang with Oyster tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'm going to school tomorrow, though I've not actually got any lectures or anything. It's just to assure that I'll be doing school work. In fact, I'm probably going to be at school a lot for the next three weeks. Hopefully going to be really productive and read and be smart and stuff. (and also, I sort of, kind of, really like Bound 2 by Kanye West, though the kilo-gang thinks it's rather ... well, not so great. I don't know, it's like the same with Dark Fantasy by Kanye West. I think it's a tune. Also, a little fact you might not have known: Justin Vernon, the vocalist from Bon Iver and Volcano Choir, his songs have been used in several songs by Kanye West. If you didn't already know, now you do).
