you had your fun, now the party's done
You know the packing dilemma I've had? Meaning the one where I just haven't been motivated enough to actually start packing? Well, I woke up early today and finished packing in what felt like no time. I've been so worried about overpacking, then I saw the amount of clothes I've decided to bring along, and I got worried about it being too little. Discussed it with Kiwi, and it seems like she thinks I've a good job. I went to the mall to get a few things that I thought I was missing. Guys, I've bought makeup wipes. What's the matter? Well, I've not used makeup wipes since 2012 maybe. I switched over to micellar water back then. Obviously I've used wipes when I haven't had access to my own skincare, but I just figured I'll probably forego makeup most days when I'm out travelling anyway. Plus I need to be practical, which means makeup wipes. I also bought myself two disposable cameras for the trip. I love the feeling of taking pictures on a disposable camera and be surprised when I finally get the pictures evoked. I've pushed all the things aside to a corner of my room, but it really annoys me to see it all like that. I might stuff it into my closet just so I don't have to look at it. I don't like things to look untidy, it's a distraction to me. Tidy room equals a tidy mind. You know how I said my skin has been good lately? Well, now I can feel a pimple trying to dig it's way onto my nose. I did say I'd jinx myself, but do I learn? Nope. Tomorrow I'm having a sleepover at Marble's. We'll probably eat some food and watch a movie. I've not seen Marble in what feels like years, so that'll be good. She's also talked me into going skiing on Wednesday, so I'll see how that goes. It's a fun idea, cause I've not gone skiing since 2012, and before that one time I hadn't gone for years. That time I skied down a few steep hills without much worry. I assure you I'm not like that anymore. Nope, nowadays I'm afraid that I'll break my hip. I'm getting up early tomorrow as well, so I'm going to start getting ready for bed.

No one can love you the way I used to do. But love isn't fair, and I swear that this time this is the end
Is this not a gorgeous combination, meaning my new notebook that looks a bit like dalmatian spots and the pink envelope? To me it's one of the most pleasing things to look at. Today I finally finished reading Quiet by Susan Cain. It's taken me what feels like years. It's not that I didn't like the book (cause I certainly did), but I'm so used to reading fiction where there's usually a peak, and/or a turning point. A plot. Like, there's always some suspense. Reading Quiet by Susan Cain is essentially like reading a really interesting research article. I've learned a lot, and nodded along to a lot of the book. I'm really happy I read it because I genuinely think it's one of those books where you come out better of it. As in, this is information, knowledge I'll add to my brain and use in real life. Introversion and extroversion is a part of a person's personality and can explain so many things. Cain addresses kids and parenting in the last parts of the book. Just imagine being an extrovert and having an introverted child and not understanding them (and vice versa). I would like to add a few quotes from the book, because it really is great. However, I've borrowed the book in Norwegian, and I already feel I've talked so much about it on my blog, so I probably won't do an opinion on the book. I really want to read more books similar to this, books that'll expand my knowledge about humans, books that'll help me understand others (and myself) better. Onto another subject-- I don't always find the correct words to comfort my patients, so I use silence and a touch more often than not. But it's difficult doing that with someone you only write to. I guess maybe that's a subject I'll have to research more. Problem is, that comfort is subjective, it's cultural. That means the more you know a person, the better comfort you can give them. I really want to attend a concert next week, but I'm not supposed to spend money on the things I don't need. However, it's DNCE, as in Joe Jonas' band. I don't know if 14-year old me would forgive me if I don't see him in flesh. But going to the concert will only be to see him, not necessarily because I'm fond of his music. And that concept just seems a bit strange to me. I have a feeling I probably won't go. As it is, I can't do everything. I've not gone to a concert since One Direction back in June, was it? That's eight months ago, and I really do feel the lack of doing so. But I've decided to travel, so my savings are going to that. I am constantly reminding myself: "you can't do everything". I am still stuck on the dilemma of buying myself a new camera. Because I truly believe I'll be happier coming home with great pictures from the trip, than if I don't. My trusty old Panasonic DMC-FS62 suffered a drop, I think, because my memory card isn't longer removable from the camera. It's stuck, which means the amount of pictures I can take is limited. On any regular trip I make, that's no problem. But when I'm supposed to travel to all these new exciting places for two months, I'm pretty sure it'll be a problem. I do have a Canon EOS 550D in my possession at the moment, but there is no way I'm going to drag along that bulky camera. As it is, researching for a camera is shit. I want to go for Panasonic because I'm so used to it, but Panasonic isn't necessarily the best. In the end I'll just have to choose anyway. That is if I finally get around to buying one. On my agenda today was to finish Quiet, take my second dose of the oral vaccine I did the other week, and start packing. I tackled clothes today. A few weeks back I tried packing, just to see the amount of clothes I'd need. I packed way too much. And for the past week I've been thinking so much about packing less clothing, that I felt like I was only allowed to bring one outfit, and that was it. The good thing about my wardrobe, is that everything is so basic, and most colours go together. Which means I can just create loads of outfits from few pieces. That being said, it's still hard. I gave up quite early, which is not good. I cannot procrastinate, and wait till the last minute. That is not acceptable. Ale called me today. It's mostly never the opposite, that goes for all of my friends. That's not to say I don't care about my friends, I just would rather talk to them in real life. I don't know what it is about phone calls that makes me so uncomfortable. Well, maybe the lack of gauging the other's reactions and whatnot. Anyway, she listened to me rambling on about packing and whether I should buy a camera or not. Then she gave me tips for the trip. Lastly she mentioned that she'll be sailing the world with her boyfriend by the end of this year, and she invited me for parts of it. The details are still in the making, but you know how yesterday I went on about being lucky for all the opportunities I come across? Well, this is one of those as well. To be fair, I have no idea of how my life is going to be by the end of this year, if it's possible for me to tag along. I've no idea what I'm going to do when I get back from travelling in Asia. Work-wise, and life-wise, I am pretty much clueless. Sugar told me she was glad for me, happy that I finally am going to travel like I always wanted to when we were younger. And I told her that I'm a bit afraid that, after this trip, I'll become insatiable, that I'll always want to travel. To travel loads is rarely associated with having a steady pay, or steady anything really. Meaning I'm not safe, in some sorts. I don't know, I can't think too much about it now. If my life is at a place that'll allow me to go sailing with Ale, I'll go. I've pretty much decided already, I just need to make sure I can. This year, guys, I'm already looking forward to write my new years post. That is if I survive until then. You never know, which is why it's so important for me to embrace the opportunities that comes along. Tomorrow I'm going to see Oyster, and for now I'm going to do a bit of writing. I mean, does Saturday night not say writing to you? Today it does for me.

I'm thinking you'll love me right, but you never will
Last week I got Little Mix tickets from Kiwi as a birthday present. We've always said that we'd attend a Little Mix concert if they ever came to Norway. And well, they are, in June. They performed at the Brits yesterday, and as always they were mesmerizing. I think they're amazing performers, and under-appreciated. I just think people have in their mind that of course Little Mix are great, but for them to be awarded? Well, it takes a lot more for that to happen. Anyway, I can't wait to see them in concert. Before I went to bed last night, I was listening to their newest album and just dancing along in my bedroom. From my bed, I could see the moon. It was pretty much in my face, shining, as it does. There's this scene in The Proposal where Sandra Bullock is in the bed and trying to find a position where the sun (they're in Alaska where the sun apparently doesn't go down) doesn't hit her in the face as she tries to fall asleep. I felt a lot like that yesterday when I tried to avoid the moonshine hitting my face. I slept for a loooong time, before the sun was too much. Had breakfast, read a bit, exercised, showered, got ready, ate. Then I went to my belieber friend's. "It's our last meal," she told me over the phone, as we were trying to figure out what to eat. We had sausages, of course. According to Darren I eat eight, I think he said. I only had three this time, but usually I'll go for four. We also ate chocolate cake whilst watching the X Games, and I had major shoe envy. I haven't ever watched a skateboard match, but there was a time in my life where I watched skateboarding videos. I had to go way back in my Youtube Favourites archive to figure out when, but it was back in 2011, so five years ago. I'm a worrywart, so I don't usually like watching things where people potentially can hurt themselves. Yes, I am aware that people can hurt themselves in every situation, but I am hinting at sports where the risks for getting hurt are high. I always feel very at home, comfortable in the company of my belieber friend and Darren. It's a nice feeling. Tomorrow I might meet up with Kiwi, cause we've got some things to look at before we leave this space. Sunday is reserved for Oyster. Tuesday and Wednesday is reserved for Marble. "You're not going to work at all?" my belieber friend asked me, about these last days before I go travelling. And nope, my time has been reserved to my friends and family, and to do the last bits of planning and packing (I've not started packing, and Ale wrote me: "what?" in response to that which made me slightly freaked out). I think it's fourteen days left now, which is crazy.

you messed with my heart babe, now it's black and blue
My first picture-- creepy? I don't really think so, cause it's supposed to be a self portrait by Mars, Oyster's younger sister. I think she was going to throw it away or summat, but I was so impressed I wanted it, and I've had it for many years now. I've just been waiting to get my own place to find a frame for it, and who knows how long that'll take me. Anyway, I watched a few episodes of Teen Wolf season 3B yesterday, and those who has seen, knows there's a character that turns dark, and he's got this creepy smirk that really gets to me. I realised that it terrifies me much more than the newest season. And yesterday, as I was watching Teen Wolf in my bedroom, I turned to the door and saw Mars' self portrait, and it was one of those very few times I've been frightened. Because it really reminded me of the character in Teen Wolf. My new shoes, boots. They're simple, except for a little detail. I think that's what drew me to them. I am a sucker for simplicity with tiny details that you don't normally notice. They're leather, and for the first time in my life, the lady in the shoe store actually gave me great tips about shoes. Told me about what fits my feet, because I have a high instep. Told me about the functions of a sole, and the importance of preventing damages to your feet. Yes, normally I'd think she was trying to sell me the shoes, but this was after I said that I was going to buy them. She also gave me tips on how to maintain leather shoes, because though leather is long lasting, they'll last even longer with some TLC (well not exactly TLC, but care). On the agenda today was something I initially didn't want to do, but it was one of those things you know will end up really good anyway. For some reason I have dreaded this day, and I'm pretty sure my dreams the past few days have a connection with that. So I ended the day with rope around my legs, and no I've not started part-taking in bondage. No, but I did run around a sandpit, restricted with rope around my legs. It really hurt. Weeks ago, Kiwi told me she'd signed me up for this annual competition-thing with my work. By participating, my work section, division, whatever-- gets money. So I figured "sure, I'll do that". But when I woke up to a cloudy sky, I thought "oh dear, what have I done", which, truthfully is a common thought of mine. Once we arrived, I quickly understood what was going on. Imagine different posts with different games (ex: each member of the team has to cycle lap around a path on a tricycle), where the goal is to finish first. My boss pointed me out to be the team leader, which really meant I herded the sheep from post to post. At one post I frantically waved at my boss and colleague and tried to signalise for them to get their arses to where I was standing. This was in the midst of the instruction of the game, so I hadn't a clue what we were supposed to do. Luckily my team mates had listened and explained. I was still partly clueless, so I let my team mates build a really great tower that didn't fall down, unlike half of the contestants. First half of the day we were practically ace, but then it went downwards at the end of the day. But I held an attempt of a pep talk at the end of the day. Anyway, it was a really funny day, regardless of the results. I am not going to end all my posts with a music plug, but I've been listening to Little Mix lately, mostly acoustic stuff, because that's my favourite. And there's this song called The End from their new album, that they've been performing, acapella only. Listening to it makes me want them to star in a broadway show of some sort. It's just really lovely, and sounds a lot like a classic. It's also a bit heartbreaking, this video, because Perrie starts crying. Regardless, I still get so impressed by their talent. I would pay to listen to them only do acapella. Right, am going to eat an ice lolly now, because it's Saturday. Then I'm probably going to watch Teen Wolf.
